 次の英文を読んで、後の設問に答えなさい。

The Fourth of July is the biggest summer holiday in the United States. When I was a child, I looked forward to it. For me, it was more than just a day off from school.

My irst memory of the Fourth of July was when I was four years old. My family took me to watch the parade on Main Street. There was a festival with marching bands and a parade at noon. People in the parade would throw candy on the road and the kids would all run to get some.

When we got home, the whole neighborhood smelled like food. Everyone had a barbeque with hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch. We played baseball in the backyard only stopping when we got hungry.

Night time was the most magical. Everyone in town walked down to the river to see the fireworks. The youngest children covered their ears because the fireworks were very loud. It was so loud that it sounded dangerous, but the beautiful colors and shapes were amazing. This was the only time of the year that the sky would light up at night. All the kids wished it would last forever. But of course it was only one day and night. There was nothing left but memories and mosquito bites*. We were so tired that it was diicult to walk home.

The Fourth of July was the start of our summer vacation. We still had eight more weeks to play in the sun, but that was the most exciting day of the summer vacation.
